Why Ellara Group

I created Ellara Group to support organisations who are working to find more sustainable ways to take care of each other and the Earth. I support them in strengthening their strategic, operational and project management capacity to enact the change they were created to make.

Throughout my career I have lead projects and organisations through periods of evolution and change. My strength is in supporting others through transitions and opening to the next stage of progress for organizations and initiatives. I do this by drawing from the wisdom that is held by the people that make up the organization, who best understand the possibilities and challenges. And then I collate and connect what has come forward, together with my own insights and experiences in serving other organisations and research on industry best practices, to create actionable strategies, processes and systems.

Key skills include:

  • Facilitating collaboration between diverse groups of people to identify solutions and new ways of progressing an organisation’s work.

  • Developing actionable plans and processes needed to deliver projects aligned with an organization’s mission.

  • Finding solutions and possibilities in times of change and transition

Background:

I trained as a Civil and Environmental Engineer (B.A.Sc. and M.A.Sc., University of Toronto), earned a Certificate in Financial Analysis & Investment Management, and became a certified Project Management Professional with the PMI. Over 20 years, I have managed the procurement of major hospital and sports infrastructure projects worth over $1.5 billion, led the operations for a national nonprofit organisation, and guided volunteer teams through periods of transition and change.

R. Stephson, Board President

“Amanda has a remarkable capacity to articulate for others the moving parts of a situation, the options available, and the implications of those options – an invaluable skill that makes her a leader, regardless of the role she is in.

She understands and values the truest meaning of teamwork, and is continually alert to ways in which it can be strengthened. Motivating this is the heartfelt respect she so clearly feels for everyone she works with. By modeling this respect, she inspires others to do the same, strengthening the team’s ability not just to accomplish its aims, but to do so harmoniously.

In the rougher seas that invariably come, she welcomes challenges, leans into emergencies without drama or flinching, and exerts a steadying influence where others waver.”

Non-profit Director

“Amanda’s competency is up there, in literally, the highest level I’ve encountered. Her competency is in her ability to step into a situation, take in all the pieces, stay open to all the parts, present possibilities, adapt to the listening, adapt to what’s capable of being received, and match that, not coming from a position, but from an intent to support something coming forward that has yet to be articulated.”

S. Robbins, Former Co-Consultant

“Amanda is super smart, helpful, insightful, kind and focused on reaching any goal - anyone would be lucky to be working with her.”
